Verizon通信公司是美国最大的本地电话运营商，并在美国第二大无线运营公司占有大部分股份。早前Verizon曾警告部分P2P用户，称多种情况可能导致终止其服务。今天Verizon发言人Bobbi Henson在接受CNET采访时表示，“Verizon有权终止用户的服务，但Verizon不像Comcast（美国电信运营商之一）那样，我们的带宽没有问题。”
这意味着美国最大的宽带服务商之一的Verizon已经开始对其网络用户非法P2P文件共享说不，虽说可能会导致部分用户的“合法”权益受损，但是最终保护的是该国的音乐、电影等产业。
