    《AMD公司CEO Hector Ruiz就收购ATI事件告全体同仁书》

I am delighted to announce that AMD and ATI have agreed to combine forces to become a processing powerhouse, leading the industry in computing, graphics and digital media technologies. With your commitment, the new company can grow the entire industry by empowering our customers and industry partners to choose what is best for them within an open-innovation ecosystem.

This acquisition aims to drive growth, innovation and choice – and it will provide you with more resources to create and deliver even more imaginative solutions. The possibilities are endless.

This transaction will enable AMD to have a larger presence in our industry. We will be able to increase our presence in the commercial client and mobile computing markets, and expand our consumer digital media capabilities. I believe that with your help, we can achieve our goal of re-inventing our industry as the customer-centric technology leader and partner of choice.

The new global corporation will operate as AMD and will be headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. The company will maintain major business centers in Silicon Valley, Austin, and Markham, Ontario, as well as sales, design and manufacturing centers worldwide. The company will be led by an integrated management team.

I will continue in my role as chairman and CEO and Dirk Meyer will continue as president and COO. The current president and CEO of ATI, Dave Orton, will become the executive vice president of the ATI business division, reporting to the office of the CEO. In order to ensure that this transition runs smoothly, there will be a highly focused integration management team led by Dave Orton, Dirk Meyer and Bob Rivet.

Tomorrow at 1 p.m. CDT (11:00 a.m. PDT), Dirk and I will host an employee meeting via video conference to discuss this acquisition and to answer any questions you may have. I hope you will join me from the designated video conference locations or via audio teleconference. To accommodate everyone’s schedules, the meeting will also be replayed on AMD Online. In the upcoming weeks, members of the new management team and I will visit employees at our offices around the world to discuss this in person. I will also provide you with regular updates via e-mail and on AMD Online.

While change can be unsettling, this is a strong move for our company that will expand opportunities for AMD and its employees. During the next few months, I would ask that you remain focused on our business and our customers, just as you always have, so that we can begin an exciting new era of transformation for our industry.

I look forward to speaking with you more about this transaction and how we can all work together to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

More Information is available on AMD Online.
