I didn’t know at all the design of the new range of mp3 player from Sony when PChome gave me the product to test it. At first seeing I was surprise by the color, pink and violet and by the form of the reader. This is really more looking like a lipstick than an mp3 player. Moreover when we see no screen on it when it’s turn off. This design and this color will be suitable for ladies but man hasn’t been forgetting with a metallic grey a black and a blue very elegant.
Sony, still in war with the IPod on the mp3 music player is in late against its competitor and hope taking back some costumers with this new line. In this vision The NW line are ultra-compact with a USB key. Those products are presented by Sony like“a concentrate of technologies with an elegant design”. We’ll see if Sony tells us the truth in testing one member of this new line, the NW-EO13.
The line got three products. All of its got the same design, the only things is changing is the flash memory size. 1GO (EO13: 700 tracks), 2GO (EO15) and 4GO for the EO16. The first argument of this player seems to be its small size: 83,1 x 22 ,8 x 14,2 mm. And its weight: only 28 grams

Prices of those readers are in Europe 70 Euros for the NW-EO13 and 100 Euros for the NW-E01. All those products got a LED 3 lines screen. About the audio type recognize,in more of mp3 it can read WMA, AAC and ATRAC. The autonomy is of 30 hours and loading the mp3 player is very quick, battery will be full in one hour.
It’s got the “clear audio technology”:”clear stereo” which give a good reproduction of the original sound, and “clear bass”, for powerful bass without distortion

The same note allow you to change the sound, you have the choice between “clear audio” and “clear stereo” and you can select classics reading functions like shuffle, repeat one track, or repeat all.
The volume is going from 0 to 30, don t try to push the sound to 30, I have done it for the test and I m nearly deaf. Even at 30, sound is still clear.
The menu of the Sony gives you an access to a track explorer. You ll can find your favorites tracks in looking by artist, album, type and realize year. You still can look for an album with its jacket in selecting jacket search in the menu. There is in the menu a direct access to read all your music or just a playlist and a shuffle “intelligent” with three modes: favorite shuffle, time machine shuffle and sport shuffle which will stop the reader after a time.

To finish with the menu, you ll can in going in settings select an ambiance sound like arena, club, studio and live. You can activate or not the stereo and jacket mode. The setting will allow you to show dates or information about your music when the reader will be sleeplessness
To conclude we can say that good points of the mp3 player are its weight, its size its design and its autonomy. Bad points are there is no way to increase the memory with an external flash memory card and we can only reload it with a USB connection.
