Web Platform Installer(Web PI)是微软面向开发人员推出的一款简单工具，可以直接下载、安装最新版的微软网络平台，包括IIS、SQL Server Express、.NET Framework、Visual Web Developer等。
今天刚刚发布的Web PI 1.0正式版支持Windows XP SP3、Windows Vista SP1、Windows Server 2003 SP2、Windows Server 2008 32/64-bit等操作系统，要求首先安装.NET Framework 2.0。
Web PI 1.0可安装以下组件：
Internet Information Services 5.1 on XP SP3
Internet Information Services 6.0 on Server 2003 SP2
Internet Information Services 7.0 on Vista SP1/Server 2008
SQL Server 2008 Express
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Visual Web Developer 2008 Express SP1
Visual Studio Tools for Silverlight
该工具提供了三种安装方式，除了完全安装和自定义安装外还有一个“ASP.NET Developer”，用来安装开发、运行ASP.NET程序所需的服务器组件、工具和技术，另外基于XML的程序的Manifest如有可用更新会自动安装。
