根据杨鹏的《十七天搞定GRE单词》的方法，依据张红岩的《TOEFL词汇精选》，我制订了《十天搞定TOEFL单词》，大致的方法是一致的，但是因为TOEFL词汇与GRE比起来要少很多，张红岩的《TOEFL词汇精选》共分50个list，所以，我计划是每天背5个新的list。
按照杨鹏的方法，是在5分钟，30分钟，12小时，1天，2天，4天，7天，15天后，各复习一遍，鉴于TOEFL词汇中相当一部分还是比较熟悉的，所以我就没有制定15天以后的计划。具体如下：
一般来说，1个list大约有60个单词，当你背10个的时候，大约是5分钟，这时，第一个记忆周期已到，你需要在背下一个单词之前，立即回到第一个单词，把这10个单词迅速复习一遍。因为此时对单词的记忆程度在90%以上，所以只需要几十秒，但是对于记忆这些单词，所起到的作用是极大的。往后，每十个为一个小的单元，如法炮制。等你背完这个list的时候，也就是60个左右的单词，第二个记忆周期（30分钟）已到，立即从第一页开始复习。由于这次单词刚刚被复习2遍，所以这一遍复习也只需要两三分钟。同样的方法，接着背下一个list, 直到背完当天所需要背完的5个list。
用以上的方法背过的单词，一定会记得很牢固，因为这种方法不但利用及时的复习改造了遗忘曲线、延缓了遗忘的速度，而且基本上克服了前摄抑后，后摄抑前的影响。
本方法的基本速度是一天花2个半小时背下5个新的list, 建议选择上午特别是早上的时间来背新单词，到了晚上，也就是背过单词的12小时之后，到了第三个记忆周期，一定要复习今天新背过的单词，晚上复习有助于保持记忆。通常这一遍复习只需要第一遍背新单词时不到三分之一的时间。
其后的复习模式，请按照前面所讲的方法继续下去，分别在1天后，在过2天、4天、7天后作复习。这里的天数是指时间间隔的天数，而不是指第几天。
方法大致上就是这些，关键还是要自己有恒心，能够坚持下去！记住：复习远背新词重要！希望大家都能取得好成绩！

Elderly Mother
Three sons left home, went out on their own and prospered. Getting back together, they discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother.
The first said, "I built a big house for our mother."
The second said, "I sent her a Mercedes with a driver."
The third smiled and said, "I've got you both beat. You remember how mom enjoyed reading the Bible? And you know she can't see very well. So I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took elders in the church 12 years to teach him. He's one of a kind. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot recites it."
Soon thereafter, mom sent out her letters of thanks:
"Milton," she wrote one son, "The house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house."
"Gerald," she wrote to another, "I am too old to travel. I stay most of the time at home, so I rarely use the Mercedes. And the driver is so rude!"
"Dearest Donald," she wrote to her third son, "You have the good sense to know what your mother likes. The chicken was delicious."
